If you decide to become an event planner, no two days on the job will ever be the same. Event planning is a dynamic and ever-changing field. As you begin your career, you’ll learn that no two clients—or events will be exactly the same.

Each event you plan will be truly unique as you adapt plans to suit client preferences, new trends, and even use new technology. One hot new technology that is changing event planning is live streaming, especially when it comes to conference planning.

How is live streaming impacting conference event management? Read on to find out.

1. Live streaming Can be a New Marketing Tool for Event Planning School Grads

When live streaming first hit marketing scenes, some event planners were worried that it would have a negative effect instead of a positive one. They were worried that if attendees could watch a conference from the comfort of their home, they might decide to stay in instead. However, as new data on livestreaming has started coming in, event planning school grads now know that the opposite is true.

According to one recent report, 65 per cent of conference attendees consider networking just as important as listening to presentations, interviews and panel discussions—meaning that they’ll still attend a conference no matter how much of it is being live streamed.

There’s also even better news for event planners. According to many conference surveys, viewing the livestream of a conference actually encourages new audiences to attend the year after. In fact, people who view the livestream of an event are 30% more likely to attend next year.

As a result, live streaming is becoming a top new way for event planner course grads to reach out to new audiences.

2. Livestreaming Requires Extra Preparation for Event Planning School Grads

While there are many benefits to livestreaming, it takes some extra preparation to include it in your event. To start with, you’ll need to make sure that you can rely on a solid internet connection in order to stay connected to audiences.  If you’re streaming a long presentation, you might also need to ensure that you have easy access to a power station to keep equipment charged for the entire talk.

As you prepare to live stream your event, you’ll also need to carefully research different live streaming tools and choose which one fits the needs of your event best. Some popular live streaming programs include:

  • Livestream is known as the #1 streaming software in the world and is used in over 6 million events.
  • Ustream is a highly rated professional streaming service used by clients like NASA.
  • YouTube Live Streaming is a free option which can include multiple camera angles.
  • Persicope is a live mobile streaming app that is easy-to-use for both event planners and attendees.

Deciding which streaming software you want to use will involve weighing up the pros and cons of each one. Opting for a professional service like Livestream or Ustream, for example, provides you with a higher quality product, but can run up extra costs.

Cubase Club’s Monthly Meeting

Posted on June 4th, 2015 - Written by: Trebas Institute

This ten-year tradition has proved its worth over time. The monthly meeting brings together Steinberg professionals and students from Trebas’s audio school for a valuable info-session on the latest trends in audio design and engineering. Scheduled for Monday, June 8th, the next meeting will offer participants a detailed look at the new Cubase environment, VariAudio 2. This powerful tool can be used for multiple purposes including pitch correction, harmony generation and monophonic audio alteration.

Although the meeting has traditionally been held in French, our English-speaking students and the general public are welcome to attend. Transition from French to English comes naturally in Quebec, and we will ensure that every participant can fully take part in and benefit from the info-session.

When and where?

Location: Room 108

Date and time: Monday,June 8th, 2015 at 6:30 pm

Last Month’s Meeting

Thierry Joséphine has been faithfully attending our monthly meetings for the past three years. He has been rewarded for his commitment with a special attendance prize for the month of May. Although he’s not a Trebas student, he finds the sessions particularly enlightening on both a theoretical and practical level.  Congrats Thierry!

Posted on June 3rd, 2015 - Written by: Josée Daigneault

Trebas Ateliers

It has officially become a tradition. We are pleased to share with all of our students and graduates the new schedule for summer workshops. Developed to enhance job-search skills, these workshops have become a great asset to Trebas students.

This season, we are proud to announce that a new workshop has been added to our already rich and varied schedule – the workshop PORTFOLIO – which will further enhance our students’ capacity to find their dream job.

The Portfolio Workshop

Every professional working in the entertainment industry is required to have a portfolio that showcases his or her work. More than just an asset, the portfolio is a must-have professional tool that should be carefully developed in order to effectively demonstrate your competency, creativity and experience.

The Portfolio workshop will help you strategically develop and organize your own collection of work. During this workshop with Josée, you will learn how to “sample” your work in line with the jobs and contracts that you aim to get.

Workshops on Request

Students of our film school, in audio training or music business training are invited to take advantage of these workshops. If your busy schedule doesn’t align with the calendar, Josée Daigneault offers workshops on request, according to your availability.

Here is the full workshop calendar for the summer session:
